Explain recoiling of motor in detail?

Friends, today in this article we will learn about  recoiling of motor.  I am going to give information about all this in a very good way. So let’s start.

Rewinding of Motor

Recoiling of electric motors is a cost effective factor in case of failure. If recoiling process is done on a large scale, the motor can be brought back to its original condition. In most of the recoiling processes, the instructions are not followed at standard level. This is the main reason for energy consumption. Recoiling also affects the efficiency of the motor. In most of the motors, the efficiency reduces by 2% to 5% after recoiling.

Guidelines have been given for re-coiling as per IE rules, under which SWG should be selected as per the standard for the conductor used in the winding. The losses due to re-coiling can be reduced by the latest technology of re-coiling. There are very few cases of re-coiling where the efficiency of motors increases.

A problem arises when heat is applied to strip the old winding. In this case the insulation may be damaged and eddy current losses increase. While rewinding the motor the air gap between the stator and rotor must be determined correctly. The power factor is affected by the air gap.

For effective recoiling, changes in the design are necessary. If wires of larger cross section are used, the stator losses are reduced and the efficiency of the motor is increased.

Testing of Motor Winding

Winding test is same in single phase or three phase induction motor.

The number of winding parts in a motor depends on the number of its magnetic poles. That is, in a four pole motor, the stator is divided into four parts and each part is made by connecting several slots. While winding, the winding wire should be properly installed in the slots. If the wire of a winding slot breaks, then a fault occurs in the entire winding. In the primary testing of any motor, the coil combination and coil conductors are inspected.

Continuity Test

Continuity is tested to ensure success of re-coiling in an induction motor. This can also be done using a simple lamp. Under this, one end of two insulated wires is connected to the phase in a test holder while the other end is connected to the neutral wire. Keeping both of them separate, the lamp starts glowing when it comes in contact with the end of the winding to be tested. In this situation, it should be understood that the continuity test is working properly.

Rewinding Insulation Test

While rewinding the motor it is necessary that from one frame slot

The coil up to the second frame slot should be completely insulated. Hence it is necessary to test this insulated arrangement. In a single phase AC motor, the insulation between the two windings should be more than 12 ohms. The need for insulation testing arises due to the high temperature in the motor. It is difficult to detect the condition of short circuit in the coil. Most of the short circuit conditions occur when the insulation is bad. The wires of each coil should be insulated from each other.
