Explain the types of loads on electric motors.

Friends, today in this article we will learn  about the types of loads on electric motors.  I am going to give information about all this in a very good way. So let’s start.

Types of loads on electric motors

It is very important to know about the loads used on electric motors because choosing the right load provides an opportunity to conserve energy in the motor. These are divided into the following parts-

  1. Variable Torque Load- Such work areas in which the load changes are called variable load operation. The torque changes according to the type of work. In this type of drive, changing the speed is complex whereas variable torque motor is beneficial from the point of view of energy consumption. It is used in small industries with small machines. It provides high efficiency with speed change.
  2. Constant Torque Load- In this type of electrical machines, the load is the highest. The energy consumed in this is proportional to the work done by the electrical machines. For example, in conveyors, reciprocating compressors, etc., energy is consumed according to the load of the machines.

These are used in large industrial institutions. In the installation of motors, it is used to save energy according to the load. Under this, an attempt is made to reduce gear operation. This is the minimum cost operating method. Through this, energy conservation is possible by constant torque according to the load. By reducing the gear ratio, the highest torque is obtained. This method is cheap. If the torque of a motor is increased, then the cost of the motor also increases. For example, if the gear ratio is fixed at 10: 1, then the inertia can be increased 100 times.

3. Constant Power Load – In this type of electric drive, the power is constant. In this, the speed is reduced to conserve energy. It is used for machine tools. They are used for constant high power supply in various types of industrial institutions. They are used as prime mover in power generation plants. According to the electrical parameters, the load is represented by inductive load. Hence, domestic motors are included in the motors having the trend of inductive load.
