Write types of technical losses?

Friends, today in this article we will learn  about the types of technical losses and  I am going to give you information about all these in a very good way. So let’s start.

Types of technical losses

The maximum part of technical losses is spent in transmission and distribution systems. These types of losses are losses in conductors, equipment, transmission line, transformer, sub-transmission line and distribution line. In reality, technical losses depend on the characteristics and operation of the network of the power system up to 25%. The maximum part of technical losses in the power system is spent in primary and secondary distribution lines, while up to 30% of energy losses occur in transmission and sub-transmission. Technical losses are of two types-

permanent technical losses

Permanent losses do not change with the change in the value of current. These losses are spent in the form of heat and sound in the transformer. 1/4 to 1/3 of the total losses in the distribution system are spent as fixed losses. Corona and leakage current losses are major in transmission lines. Dielectric losses are calculated as constant or permanent losses in conductors. These losses completely depend on temperature and insulation capacity. Apart from this, open-circuit losses, losses due to control components, are permanent losses.

variable technical losses

Variable losses arise in distribution systems. Their value is proportional to the square of the current, i.e. if the current is increased by 1%, then the losses arising are more than 1%. Variable losses account for 2/3 to 3/4 of the total losses arising in the distribution system. If the cross-sectional area of the supply cable is increased, then the losses at a given load start reducing. In this way, distribution cost can be reduced by controlling losses. Any distribution system should be designed in such a way that the losses arising in it do not exceed 30%. Losses arise due to heat generation as per Joule’s law, apart from this, losses arising due to impedance losses and contact resistance are variable losses.
